The spotlight was on New Zealand opening batsman Martin Guptill and West Indies' Lendl Simmons as they got the greatest offers in the as of late closed Caribbean Premier League draft.

Sohail Tanvir (Guyana Amazon Warriors), Andre Russell (Jamaica Tallawahs), Chris Gayle (St Kitts and Nevis Patriots) and Dwayne Bravo (Trinbago Knight Riders) were altogether held by the establishments for the 2018 season in the opening round while Guptill and Simmons were picked by Barbados Tridents and St Lucia Stars.

Held players were granted USD 160,000 while Guptill and Simmons were picked at USD 90,000 and 70,000 individually.

A sum of 227 abroad players and 121 West Indian players entered the draft. With 61 players effectively held, 47 were picked from the draft procedure with each establishment having an 18-part squad.

Shahid Afridi (Tallawahs) and Shoaib Malik (Amazon Warriors), touchy openers Evin Lewis (Patriots) and Chris Lynn (Knight Riders) shaped the marquee set while Kieron Pollard, who played for the Jamaica Tallawahs for the last four seasons was exchanged to St Lucia Stars for USD 130,000.

English trio Alex Hales, Adil Rashid and Tymal Mills neglected to pull in an offer as the competition will conflict with the Natwest T20 Blast.
